CFEPS Survey simulator and Kuiper belt model

 

We have created a survey simulator using the characterization of the CFEPS L3 discovery observations (Kavelaars et al, 2009, AJ 137, 4917).  This simulator can be used to “observe” your Kuiper belt model using the same parameters and conditions as those of the CFEPS project.  You can then compare the output of your simulator “observed” model with the CFEPS detection database to see if your model reproduces our observations.  This process is more clearly describe in Kavelaars et al.


To help explain the structures seen in the CFHT L3 sample we provide a visualization.



SurveySimulator.tar.gz [1.4 MBytes]: contains a REAMDE file, the simulator source code, a set of example files and the characterization file for the L3+Pre survey.  You will need a fortran compiler to compile the simulator.  Check the README file for details on compiling and usage.
